Bdellium Tools: Professional Eco-Friendly Makeup Brushes: Green Bambu Series *REVIEW*

Bdellium Tools, pronounced bdel • li • um [del-ee-uhm, -yuhm], the "b" is silent, is a professional makeup brush line designed by a group of talented makeup brush experts in California and handcrafted by skilled artisans in China to ensure the quality and integrity of each piece.

Bdellium Tools offers 4 different brush lines each with very distinctive features: Maestro Series, Studio Line, Travel Line, & Green Bambu Series.  The Green Bambu Series is the brush line I will be focusing on today:

The Green Bambu Series features eco-friendly makeup brushes with sustainable bamboo handles and soft vegan synthetic bristles secured with anodized aluminium ferrules (in other words, ferrules treated with an anti-corrosion coating).

This past week, I took advantage of Bdellium's wicked online sale & purchased the following brush sets & brush:

Smoky Eyes 5pc. Brush Set for $7.95!  Originally, $31.90.

Mineral 5pc. Brush Set for $9.95!  Originally, $49.50.

Bent Eyeliner Brush for $7.04!  Originally, $8.80.

Unlike Bdellium's other 3 brush lines, the Green Bambu line is not treated with the antibacterial agent.  Since synthetic bristles are non-porous and non-absorptive they are less likely to accrue and grow bacteria on them thus they have been left untreated, making them hypoallergenic in addition to being 100% cruelty-free.

First impression: Sooo soft!  The craftsmanship of these brushes is also very neat and flawless.  I love how lightweight yet sturdy these brushes feel in hand.  The bamboo handles are short in comparison to regular MAC, Sigma, or Crown Brushes; making them especially great for travel!

First wash: While it is common for most bristles to bleed during their first wash, I did not see that to be the case with these brushes.  They also did not shed one single fiber!  How incredible!  All dried within just a few hours of deep cleaning*, with the exception of the largest brush of this bunch (#959B Powder Blending).

I was also thrilled to find that even after washing these brushes and allowing them to air dry, the precise shape and angles of these synthetic bristles were not compromised as they remained soft yet dense; a great indicator of quality!

*Quick Care Tip: Simply wash bristles with regular shampoo, rinse and lay brush flat to air dry.  There's no need to condition synthetic bristles since they're already baby soft. :)
