The Artist Labs--Live Beauty Editorial Photoshoot 8/8

On Monday, August 8th, I had the honor and pleasure of attending a truly unique event presented by The Artist Labs.  Fashion Advertising Photographer Sean Armenta, NYC Editorial Makeup Artist Roshar, and Los Angeles Agency Represented Celebrity Hairstylist Daven Mayeda, came together to create and produce a four-page beauty editorial.

As silent observers, myself as well as a few other artists, were able to witness this beautiful creative process from start to finish: beginning with the concept, to watching Roshar and Daven prep the model on set, to witnessing Sean's approach to lighting, and finally, to witnessing this concept emerge and birth as it transformed before our eyes and was then captured onto the monitor.

Getting to Work

One of the most rewarding aspects of this experience, for me, was to witness such a raw organic synergy between the artists, as they communicated and collaborated to produce a cohesive beauty story.

A sneak peak into Roshar's makeup arsenal for the day:

*Roshar's Beauty Tip: Take a full set of false lashes and a pair of scissors, customize and shape them to achieve an entirely new and unique look.

Stellar handmade pieces
Daven's setup for the day:

*Daven's Beauty Tip: Wig not enough bang? Seamlessly adhere hair tracks by layering and stacking to create a fuller and finished look.

An array of wigs, hairpieces, synthetic hair and poly fibers..

  1. this is so awesome! I took a class with Daven earlier this year and it was nothing short of amazing. Thank you so much for sharing! Did Roshar only use pigments? No pressed shadows?

  2. Awesome, Shana! Yes, Roshar used mostly pigments and creams and a pressed powder to contour. :)
